"Yvonne Walker Keshick was a recipient of the Michigan Heritage Award in 1992 for her quillwork. Yvonne Walker Keshick was also a Michigan Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program Awardee. Keshick has the distinction of being one of the finest quillwork artists in North America. She was born in Charlevoix in 1946, she was taught this skill by a long line of quillworkers. After spending many years perfecting her craft, she decided to do quillwork full time. Porcupine quill designs are historically passed from one generation to the next. Her family is known for creating quilled designs of wildlife with exquisite realism. Yvonne is honored as a dominant and respected force in preserving quillwork and other aspects of the cultural heritage of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa.
